Scholarship Support Team

Fun Fact: 139 campers were able to attend CAA week 2 and/or 3 because of donations from our Scholarship Support Team.

Giving Back

"Thank you for all that the church has done for Annie (past scholarship recipient). I've decided that this [financial] gift needs to go the Camp All-American. Though we have moved and our lives have been very hectic, Annie's heart is still at Camp All-American. Thank you again for loving us." - Previous Scholarship Recipient

The Fun Stuff

Early Camp…too early!

week 2 pic

As told by Mitch's Roommate Davis, "Mitch woke up this morning a 'little early' (3 AM) for camp. I was a little worried and confused as I looked at my watch, and it showed 3 AM! I asked him what he was doing but he seemed to ignore me as he looked off into the distance, squatted down and yelled, 'boys (his campers) get over here?'" I looked around and saw no one but they must have arrived because within a few minutes he went back to bed.

Making the Grade

This summer we are asking our campers to grade their Camp All-American experience (A, B, C, D or F) in the following areas:

Question of the Week: What would you say about your overall camp experience?

  • "It's really fun and I want to go another week"
  • "It's fun to come because everyone is happy"
  • "It's fun. My counselor and I learn about God"
  • "Better than other camps! Best one!"
  • " No dull moments"
  • " Keeps me up and then I can come home and crash"
  • "I love it. They mix sports with church"

Fun Fact: We had 775 Campers here week 2 and 858 campers here week 3.

Our Counselors

Home sweet Home

I'm THOROUGHLY enjoying having two counselors in my home. I can already tell I'm going to miss Stephen come the end of the summer. Stephen is a first time CAA counselor, so it is just great to watch them discover the same awe that I already have for the program. And we love having these examples of faithful and spiritual young adults in our home for the girls to experience. The camp program touches so many people in so many ways - it's like a spider web of kingdom impact! Well done…

Fun Facts: We hire Camp Counselors from over 30 different colleges throughout the U.S.

The Good Stuff…

Camp All-American's vision is to touch the life of every family in our community with the love of Jesus through sport and play. We can't think of any better way to do that than through the people and programs of Camp All-American. So we Pray often, Play hard every day, and Say or share the gospel every Thursday through the story of the "Bridge." Lives are being CHANGED!

The Faith of a Child

From a counselor: As me and a few other counselors gathered to pray for a special need of another counselor, one of my 2nd graders asked if he could join in. We thought it was a bit unusual for a 2nd grade boy to join a group of girls in prayer until he said, "I know Jesus hears prayer, so I thought I would join you."

Honest Evaluation

week 2 pic

What side are you on, Sam? I asked this question to Sam after sharing with him how Christ provides the Bridge (The Only Way) from sin and death to the other side; Life. So what side are you on Sam? Sam seemed very trouble as he thought about the question. "My mom and dad, they don't go to church but I think I'm somewhere in the middle." Pray that the Holy Spirit lead Sam into a relationship with The Bridge. (Jesus)

Ambassadors

week 2 pic

One of our Jr. Campers told us about a conversation he had with his mom. He was sharing with her the things he was learning at Camp. After their talk his mom told him, "I don't have a relationship with Jesus."

Reaching Families…child at a time!

Come and see us sometime. There's plenty of fun to share!

2007 Camp Stories: Week 3

Scholarship Families

Thank so much to you and the Church. I know that Patrick will enjoy the camp and I will feel very good about having him there. You all have been so wonderful to me during a very tough time. May God Bless you.

Fun Fact: 84 Campers were able to attend CAA this week because of donations from our Scholarship Support Team.

The Fun Stuff

Playdough Boy

We've all met that little boy who can turn into any Superhero he wants depending on the circumstance. You know the child who becomes Inviso-boy when mom is calling for him to come clean his room. Well, he showed up at camp this week. Yes, Tornado boy, Clay boy, and even Play-dough boy visited Camp All-American in week 2. On one very SUPER Day, Play-dough boy and his group were walking in the woods. They didn't notice how close they had gotten to the Giant Swing (still in the "safe zone" of course). Just as they approached the safety area they heard the sound of screaming kids and looked up to see 2 kids dropping over 50 feet, into a freefall, while tied to 2 cords in a tree. All stood in shock and awe, until Play-dough-boy broke the silence and said, as only a superhero can, "If that were me I would have Play-doughed my pants!"

Missing Out

"My friends go to other camps and have a lot of fun but they miss the most important thing that this camp has, Bible Time."

Big things come in small packages

My daughter (6 1/2) is petite. The other day while talking about being small she says "thats o.k. because even small people can do big things." I feel she must have had such great positive reinforcement at camp!

Fun Fact: 874 campers this week. 803 of them were from our community. That brings our 3 week total to 2,229 campers with 2,055 from our community.

Camp Store (C2)

Helping Kids grow as Jesus grew in Wisdom (Mentally) stature and in favor with both God and Man. Luke 2:52. This year we are helping our Camp Kids take the Gospel home in a New Way. Many kids for the first time are seeing that our God is relevant to all of life, not just on Sunday's. Check out some of these cool resources that we offer in our new and improved "C2".

  1. Clubhouse for kids
  2. Brio for Teens
  3. Cool Bible story books
  4. Bibles for all ages
  5. Devotionals
  6. Dinosaurs & Creation

The one and only Reason…

Camp All-American exists is to share the wonderful love of Jesus to every boy, girl, mom and dad who will listen. We feel there is no better way to do that than through sport, play and the real Heroes of Camp All-American, our counselors. Every Thursday our campers hear the truth from Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus our Lord, through the truth of the scripture, God's young leaders and a simple camp lives are being CHANGED!

Simple enough for Children but deep enough to confound the "Wise"

We just got back Sunday from our Mission Trip to Cusco, Peru and when we picked up our daughter from my parents house she told us all about her time at camp and she wanted to pray to Jesus to make her a Christian, forgive her for her sins and for dying on the cross for her. Apparently she learned more at camp than we expected for a 4 year old. Thank you to the entire staff and to Ms. Britt especially for her investment in the little children. May all praises be to God and may your ministry be blessed.

Does God Love me?

My Mom say's He doesn't, but my counselor says He does. Mom says I was made by the trees. I asked my aunt on the ride home and she said my counselor was right, God does love me.

My Brother hates Church

My parents take us to church but not very often. I love camp because everyone wants to talk about God. My brother hates church, but he loves camp.

Shocked at the "Message"!

A camper's mom came to assembly and was so shocked that her shy, timid, "young" 7 year old would stand up in front of the whole auditorium and recite what she had memorized. The Mom called me after so amazed. She said, "Terri (Perimeter Member), thank you from the bottom of my heart for telling us about camp. You weren't pushy or over the top and this has just been the best experience ever. I loved what Brent said about if you go to church somewhere then we don't want you to change but if you want to check it out, please join us." She continued to talk about how amazed she was at how pure and honest and real our message was at camp, how genuinely we care for the kids, and how excellent the program is. She said it was a real revelation when the KidsTown video said that God is a fun God and kids can have fun learning about God and coming to church. She and her daughter attend St. Monica's but came to visit on "Camp All-American Sunday".

Children…watch and learn!

Enclosed is money from Gabby who is 8. I asked if she wanted to make a donation to the Camp AA Scholarship program and she went to her piggy bank and brought back $12. She understands she is helping someone else enjoy Camp All-American as much as she does.

The Fun Stuff

Making the Grade

This summer we are asking our campers to grade their Camp All-American experience here is what they said:

Question of the Week: What is your favorite activity at Camp All-American?

week 4 pic
  • #5, Canteen - "Get to buy candy"
  • #4, Ropes Course - "They have things other camps don't"
  • #3, Battle ball - "I like hitting people with the balls."
  • #2, Pool - "I like to do belly flops."
  • #1, And the top week 4 activity is…Lunch! Why? Because "I'm always hungry."

Fun Facts: 866 Campers here week 4. 712 were from the community outside Perimeter Church.

Our Counselors

Boomerang (Awarded to the school who has the most representatives on our summer staff) And the winner is…The students from the University of Georgia.

Each summer our team of recruiters and college ambassadors set out to find the best college students from around the south to serve, lead and love the campers of Camp All-American. This summer we have a total of 20 students from UGA. Congratulations! Coming close to dethroning the champs was Georgia College and State University with 16.

Fun Facts: The average age of a Camp All-American Counselor is 19 1/2.

Here are a few stories of those changed lives.

Worship Well

We were shocked as we introduced, for the first time, worship music to our assembly time for Ozone (6-8th graders). These guys are usually pretty giddy and restless during our assembly time. Most of them are not believers, so they don't understand what worship is really about. But we took the risk and introduced them to Worship through music. We were shocked that they not only got quiet but they were listening. I saw one girl crying.

Right before our eyes!

One of our female campers came to camp with a very heavy heart, to say the least. She was very aggressive, hard to get along with, and even talked of killing herself. As a result she was very disruptive, especially during Bible time. We would often find her in the corner of the room away from the group or under a desk. For 3 weeks this behavior continued. But our God, who does immeasurably more than we could ever ask or think, had big plans for this young lady and He unfolded it…right before our eyes.

On Thursday during "Bridge" time she heard the Gospel for the 4th time, but this time her eyes and ears were opened. "I told the girls if anyone wanted to know how to have a personal relationship with Jesus to tell me and we will pray together. It didn't take long until Sheri was bugging me every 5 minutes asking me to pray with her. She would look at me an asked, 'could you pray with me?' I did and the result was amazing. He has changed this girl right before our eyes. Sheri even ran up to her previous week's counselor and told her that Ms. Jenna saved me!" The change was obvious to all and we give God the Glory!

Reaching way out?

Giving a free Bible to a camper is often a very non threatening thing. Any camper who expresses interest in knowing Jesus more and doesn't have a Bible will be given a Bible by their counselor. However, in this case, the camper came from a Muslim family.

John was getting to know Mohamed and found out he and his family were Muslims. John and Mohamed were talking about the differences between the Muslim faith and Christianity. John asked Mohamed if he would like a Bible. Mohamed said he wasn't sure. So, John asked him if we could ask his mom and dad if that was ok. He agreed. Stephen, (Asst. Camp Director) called the parents and they said it was ok.

Amazed and excited, we gave Mohamed a Bible. He soon began asking question on how to study the Bible. He even said he wanted to become a Christian!

Pray for:

  • God's Spirit to continue to change lives.
  • That the practical business necessities of running Camp AA would not take away from our life on life time with kids, counselors, and families
  • 50 Camp families to come to TOP on July 29th 2007
  • 75 New Camp families to visit Kids Quest on July 8th, 2007

2007 Camp Stories: Week 5

Scholarship Support Team

Fun Facts: 58 campers were able to attend CAA week 5 thanks to the support of our scholarship support team.

The Fun Stuff

Can you E-bay that?

week 5 pic

Steven had never been to a golf course before. Needless to say, he was excited about playing his first round of golf on Thursday. He was so excited; he would not stop asking his golf coach, "when are we going to the course?" When Thursday finally arrived and Steven walked on to his first golf course he started picking up golf tees! Yes, golf tees. But not just any golf tees. These were used, broken and sometimes whole golf tees. Taylor finally asked Steven, "why are you picking up broken golf tees, we have plenty." Steven quickly responded, "I'm going to sell them on E-bay!" If Steven doesn't have enough on his site we are happy to take orders.

Question of the Week: What do you think about Bible Time?

  • "You learn stuff you might not learn at church"
  • "Stephen (Bible Hero this week) was someone I learned something new and amazing about"
  • "We get to learn about Jesus and what He does for us"
  • "It's fun hearing new stores about the Bible and talking with your counselor"
  • "It's not a dictatorship, we can talk about the story"
  • Keeping It Real "It's a little boring and a little fun"

Fun Facts: 838 Campers here week 5. 710 were from the community outside Perimeter Church.

Shout Outs

week 5 pic

One of our camp mom's called this week to give a Shout Out to our Big God. She called to let us know that an unchurched child who has been attending CAA this summer has been seen a church with his dad on Sundays, and they love it!

Open Invitation

Tammy (Camp Director) was stopped by a mom this week just to say, "thank you for opening up this camp to people outside your church."

We have a Choice

This week a young camper found out that she has a choice to reject or accept the offer of salvation from God through Jesus Christ. Gina heard the gospel and told her "Core" leader after a 45 minute talk that she wasn't ready to make a choice. 2 weeks later…she found her new friend (counselor) and told her that this past week she decided to become a follower Jesus! Her counselor told us, "we see the heart change already!"

Looking at what God is doing: from the inside out

I wanted to reiterate how much CAA means to my personal family. The kids absolutely love Pre-Camp. They are 5 & 2. Thank you for the opportunity to let me work there and see first-hand how great camp is!!! I "know" some of the kids in my class are not from Christian families and it is wonderful to know that the Gospel is being shared with them in a loving and fun environment. You all are doing a fantastic job! I am thrilled to be a part of a church that has such a desire to worship God and share His love with the community and beyond.

Pray for:

  • God's Spirit to continue to change lives.
  • 75 New Camp families to visit Kids Quest on July 8th, 2007
  • For safety on the ropes course and pool

2007 Camp Stories: Week 6 & 7

Scholarship Support Team

Thank so much to you (Scholarship Committee) and the Church for making it easier for me to send my son to Camp All-American. I know that Patrick will enjoy the camp and I will feel very good about having him there. You all have been so wonderful to me during a very tough time. May God Bless you.

Fun Fact: 80 campers were able to attend CAA week 6 and 7 thanks to the support of our scholarship support team.

The Fun Stuff

But I can't Drive!

Growing tired, Kate's camper asked, "When are we going to the putting green?" Kate told her that the team would need to spend a little more time Driving before they get to go putting. With a dazed and confused look Kate's camper walked off. He soon came back crying, "Why can't we go to the putting green soon?" Not fully understanding the breakdown, Kate asked him why he was so upset. He responded, "I can't drive. I don't have a license."

Fun Facts: Over 1,324 Campers here week 6 and 7. 1,129 were from our community.

Counselors

Taking it to the Streets

"Jonathan and I were at Starbucks the other day wearing our camp shirts. One of the guys in line started asking us about them. We told him we worked at the church camp right across the street doing sports and sharing the gospel. He said he wanted to send his girl. However, when we said it was only Monday through Friday he said that he couldn't send her because he only got his girl on the weekends. So we told him about KidsQuest. He said he really wanted to send his girl to that. He apologized for the smell of alcohol on his breath and said he does go to church. Jonathan asked him for his number so he could call him on Saturday night and invite him to come.

The Good Stuff

Camp All-American's vision is to touch the lives of each family in our community with the love of Jesus through sport and play. We can't think of any better way to do that than through the people and programs of Camp All-American. So we Pray often, Play hard every day, and Say or share the gospel every Thursday through the story of the "Bridge." Lives are being CHANGED! Here are a few stories of those changed lives.

Open Door Policy

Tammy was stopped by a mom this week just to say, "thank you for opening up this camp to people outside your church."

Dear Ms. Lopez

week 7 picThank you for running Camp All-American! It was the Best ever! If I had a year left to live one of the things I would do is invite all my friends and family to Camp All-American! Thank you.

Lasting Impact

A dad who was dropping off his kid said that they had just gotten through with an early morning hockey lesson. I told him how cool that was because I can still vividly remember my dad taking me on bike rides when I was younger. The dad told me that just as I vividly remembered the bike rides with my dad these kids will remember their experience here at Camp All-American.

Making an impact on Islam

Remember Mohammad? He is the boy from the Muslim family who wanted to become a Christian and was given a Bible. Well, five weeks into his adventure at Camp All-American, he is still following the one true God and His only son and seeing God work in his family.

Never Quit

week 7 pic

After about 20 minutes of trying to climb the vertical play pen, one of my kids finally gave up after getting really close to the top. He came down kind of bummed but was still encouraging his friends to get to the top. Then he said, "I just thought of this. If Jesus had quit when it got hard, we'd all be dead."

Prayer Works!

We prayed for one of my girls on Friday morning last week. All day on Friday she was completely different. During our Bible time we talked about spiritual warfare, and she said, "Satan has won in my life for 6 years. He's not gonna win any more."

You Just Never Know Who's Listening

My guys this week have been awful in Bible time and assembly. They have paid little or no attention. Zach actually said he "hates the Bible." Wednesday my Bible time was out of control, and one kid, Gibson, bumped his head and had to get staples to close the wound. I felt awful, but he was back on Thursday, and I had my CORE leader Eric help me with Bible time and the bridge. Later in the day, Gibson sat out of soft cross because of his head. I had a chance to sit down with him and ask him what he thought about the bridge. We were having a good discussion about the gospel when Zach walked over. I was thinking, "Oh no! Zach is going to distract this great time with Gibson." When Zach came over, he attentively joined the discussion and was no distraction at all. After we talked a while, both Zach and Gibson said they wanted to become Christians. Zach amazed me when he said, "I believe the Bible is God's word, and it's true." Much to my amazement, both Zach and Gibson accurately recounted the Bible times and assemblies for the week. I guess they were listening after all.

The Fun Stuff

I THINK I can handle THIS!

week 8 pic

Our new friend from Columbia, South American seemed to be having fun at camp this week. However he was a man of very few words. So when I cautioned him about being quick to take off in a canoe by himself, I expected him to stop and wait for further instruction. However, he just looked at me and said, "I've canoed the Amazon" And took off. I guess he'll be ok…

Fun Facts: 824 campers here week 8 were from our community.

"Community" Bowling Night of the Nerds

week 8 pic

Yes these are the wonderful young men and women I have been telling you about. As you can see I have been stretching the truth just a LITTLE BIT…

The Good Stuff

Camp All-American's vision is to touch the lives of each family in our community with the love of Jesus through sport and play. We can't think of any better way to do that than through the people and programs of Camp All-American. So we Pray often, Play hard every day, and Say or share the gospel every Thursday through the story of the "Bridge. Lives are being CHANGED! Here are a few stories of those changed lives:

Under Construction

A Perimeter mom told us this week that she had been inviting her friend to come to church for a while. This didn't seem to be working so she decided that Camp All-American would be a better way to build that bridge. At the end of the week her friend was heard saying, "why haven't I heard about this place before?

Cat Whisperer

We read in Romans where Paul tells us to become all things to all people. One of our counselors too this command to a whole new level this week.

One of our young elementary age campers had a very close attachment to a special toy cat. Suzie, carried her little friend around camp from morning until night. She was so attached to her little friend that she would share her feelings and thoughts through her little friend saying things like, "Kitty wants to go to the canteen or kitty wants to go swimming." As you might expect her fearless leader wasn't fazed by this somewhat unusual behavior. Instead, she just went along with it and stayed on course with their daily schedule of fantastic fun camp activities. However, after Thursday during Bible time kitty's voice sounded a little different when she said, "Kitty doesn't understand the Bible". True to form ,Suzie's counselor bent down, looked the Cat strait in the eyes and shared the Gospel with her. The Cat pondered this for a little bit and then said, "I think I want to pray the Sinner's Prayer!" I guess that answers the question about animals going to heaven….

2007 Camp Stories: Week 9

Scholarship Support Team

Thank you for the scholarship to come to your beautiful camp. I have gotten the chance to go to the best camp ever. I had so much fun maybe even too much. So I thank you and I am looking forward to next year.

Fun Fact: 37 campers were able to attend CAA week 9 thanks to the support of our scholarship support team.

The Fun Stuff

I Resign

Kate had had enough. Her girls would not listen, obey or do anything that she wanted them to do. So rather than get mad, she decided to get EVEN. She had this great idea to see if her girls wanted to switch places with her and a few other counselors. Of course! They all jumped at the opportunity to be in charge. As soon as the reins had been handed off, Kate and a few other counselors decided it was time for pay back. So they took off running, talked while the girls were trying to get them to come back, asked them 100 times, "what are we doing next?" and were just plain obstinate! It wasn't a pretty scene. The new leadership realized getting control of an out of control train wasn't as easy as it seemed. As they all stopped to catch their breath and regroup, one of the girls leaned against Kate and said, "If I had to do this all day, I would have to shoot myself". I guess that means she was resigning immediately!

Fun Facts: 818 campers here week 9. 719 were from our community.

The Big Game

Each Wednesday at Camp All-American is the BIG Game. This game has deep spiritual meaning to our staff and kids. We dig deep into the bible, pray for hours and really…NOT. This day is nothing but dress up, messy, loud fun. Here is a little peek.

Counselors

Shout outs… from campers

  • "Vicker, you were a really cool counselor"
  • "Ryan was fun, and we got to wrestle him"
  • "Ashley was the best she could ever be"
  • "I love you Elizabeth. Thank you for making me have a great week"
  • "Lauren, I had a lot of fun. You are a great counselor. I love you."

Guys Outings

week 9 pic

During the summer at Camp All-American it's not all work and no play. Here are a few pictures of our boys…being boys!

From Sweden to America

From Sweden to American Just wanted to say how happy Emily and Eric were with Camp All-American - as usual! Eric used his sibling voucher to buy his first Bible at the camp store! Wow! I was thrilled! He took his Bible to Sweden along with the Camp All-American DVD. I have a friend's daughter from Sweden for a month. She was blown away by Perimeter Church today. She's fifteen and plays ice hockey in Sweden! She will join the high school crowd at Perimeter next Sunday. It's such a small world. An American family from Atlanta, who live in Stockholm, recommended Camp All-American in the first paragraph of a letter on what to do in Atlanta. I'll show you the letter sometime. Of all the places and things to do and they said Camp All-American.

Tanzanian T-Shirts

week 9 pic

I just got back from a Go Journey in Tanzania, Africa and when I was there we gave the children the camp t-shirts you guys gave us. I just wanted you to know they were so thrilled about the shirts. They immediately put them on with huge smiles. I took some pictures of them and I thought you all would like to have them. Thanks so much for giving the shirts. It will now be 1 of about 3 they may have.

The seeds keep…

Rachel is a Pre K teacher 9 months of the year and a camp counselor in her "Spare Time". She shared a story this Friday that she said, "Blew her Mind!" This past January, she was supervising her class on the playground when she heard a familiar song, the CAMP ALL-AMERICAN RAP. This is the song that very clearly tells the story and purpose behind the fun and mayhem at Camp (in a rap). "They were not only singing songs but arguing about who their favorite camp counselor was for the summer."

…growing and growing, all year long

2007 Camp Stories: Week 10

400 Scholarship Supporters: 250 summer staff, 9 full time staff, 1 Church, with 1 Goal…

It all started on December 16, 2006 with the Camp Christmas Party, our first leadership recruitment event. Following this event "The Pit" hit the road and started visiting colleges. Over the winter and spring we held 5 interview sessions where every potential leader heard about: who we are, what we do and why we do it. We interviewed over 260 applicants this past year.

Community Time & Core Groups

Each Tuesday night our leaders drag their tired bodies into community group where they are lead in corporate and private worship and ongoing job training. As you can tell by the pictures, (Sarah-Angela's and Davis' CORE group) they also have a little fun. Each Thursday night these CORE groups learned to take off the mask by diving deep into God's word in authentic community (small discipleship groups).

Alpha Omega: With Flags waving, face painting and cheers screaming the competitions begin. Each week competitions between all 4th and 5th graders, who have been divided into Alpha (Red) or Omega (Blue) are played every day. Points are given to the team that wins the competition. These games encourage, fun, teamwork and enthusiasm all week long.

One Goal
…To see one lost sheep brought to the Shepherd.
