What is it?

This year our high school team gets a total revamping! Instead of filling out an application and coming to an interview session, you’ll simply (with the help of a parent of course) register for the Crew. This program is designed to be a great opportunity to learn about leadership and service. We hope that it would even be life changing for you. If you are a current freshman or sophomore in high school, you can sign up for a three week session for a small, non-refundable, registration fee of $100. With the $100 fee and a fulfilled three week working session, each team member is eligible for a free week of overnight camp in north Georgia at Camp Highland. This retreat is valued at almost $600! The entire team will spend July 23rd – 28th together playing, growing in leadership, and bonding as a team.

What’ll I be doing?

The daytime responsibilities of a Crew member are manning our camp store, setting up and breaking down each day for camp, supporting the customer service staff, and helping out with the ropes course. This team is vitally important in keeping Camp All-American running smoothly. Also, each week there will be two fun, team building activities (so, 6 per session) that will give you a break from the normal Crew grind. Being a member of the Crew is the perfect transition for our freshmen and sophomores from being a camper to being a counselor (but you don’t have to have been a CAA camper to qualify).

What do my parents need to know?

Each team member must complete a consecutive 3 week session. Your options are June 1-18, June 21-July 9, or July 12-August 6 (excluding the trip to Camp Highland from July 23-28) starting at 8:00 am each day and ending at 4:30 pm. To be eligible for the week away at Camp Highland, attendance is mandatory for the session you choose (unless you’re ill or have a death in the family). A member can work one or more of these sessions to qualify for the free week of camp. The $100 fee will only be paid once for the summer no matter how many sessions are attended. Also available: you have the opportunity to volunteer for the last week of camp from August 2-6. While applying, you can indicate your interest in working this extra week.

What will I be studying?

This summer, the team will be studying the book, The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork, by John Maxwell. Each week we will study two chapters of the book and learn how to apply what we learn to our work at Camp All-American. This time will be lead by the Crew director and the two college age foremen of the team. What an awesome opportunity to learn and apply the basics of teamwork!

Do I qualify?

This year, only those students who have completed their Freshman and Sophomore years at high school can apply. Our Junior applicants can fill out our Lifeguard application if they desire.

What else is different?

Positions for the Crew do not require an interview or references! You can simply sign up for one of the three week sessions and we will communicate with you when training will be.

The Program:

Genesis is a yearlong internship program in which we will further equip mature believers through challenging classes and books, growth in leadership and discipleship, and intentional serving both in the community and globally. We would like to see the interns leave in 2011: Mature and equipped men and women of God who are full of truth and integrity, ready to impact their community and world for the Kingdom of God.

Curriculum/Description:
The internship will be divided into three semesters. The first and second semester will be focused on many different areas such as: theology, ropes course facilitation, spiritual gifting, reading and studying scripture/selected books, camp preparation, recruitment, apartment ministry, and discipleship. The final semester will entail interns taking a leadership position at Camp All-American and ending the program with a mission trip to Egypt.

Throughout the internship the full-time camp staff will work with each intern to help them grow and learn about their specific area of interest within our ministry.

Schedule:
The internship is September 2010-August 2011. Schedules will change week to week. Interns will be required to work several weekends a month.

Apartment Ministry:
During the year long program interns will be working alongside of Avonlea Apartments and their staff to build community and bridges to Perimeter Church. Interns will plan weekly events for the children in the apartment complex as well as quarterly inviting the children to Perimeter for games and events. The interns will also invite the children to Camp All-American and build bridges to Perimeter by building relationships with the parents/families of the complex.

Cost:
Interns must raise full support for the internship. Part of the cost will be earned by the intern from ropes course events that they facilitate and from summer employment. Approximate support is $23,000.

Living Arrangements:
Interns will be living in a nearby apartment complex (Avonlea Apartments) near Perimeter church, paired together in a two bedroom apartment.

Expectations:
Follow schedule and direction given by staff
Complete and keep up with all assignments

Complete a certification program in ropes course facilitation

Lifeguards

Do you qualify?
All lifeguard applicants must have completed their Junior or Senior year in high school. All freshmen and sophomores can register for the Camp All-American “Yes Crew”. In order to be considered for a lifeguarding position, all applicants must apply fill out an application online, attend a required interview on March 13th, be available to work at least 8 of 10 weeks during the summer, and be available to go through a 40 hour Lifeguard training in late May (see dates and times below).

What will each day look like?
Lifeguards will be assigned to a specific shift (8am-5pm or 9am-6pm). Along with making sure that all campers and counselors are safe while swimming, lifeguards will be responsible for keeping the pool and pool house bathrooms clean, daily meetings with leadership, and helping out wherever needed around the pool area. Our desire is also to create an environment for personal spiritual growth throughout the summer, so daily and weekly meetings will be led to help each lifeguard grow in their walk with the Lord. Being a lifeguard is a great transition from the Crew (previously known as the Servant Team) to being a counselor.
